چکیده

The quest to discover more and enhance the qualities of agro-residue for use as natural reinforcement polymers continues attract attention researchers because environmental friendliness. Hyphaene thebaica also known doum palm is a fruit tree native Nile in Egypt found abundance many parts Africa. Doum contains probably hardest toughest nut. nuts (DPN) are most under-used hard-nut despite their nature. This study presents potential nut particles (DPNp) high density polyethylene (HDPE). Properties DPN such density, hardness weight loss due heating were determined. HDPE/DPNp composites produced by reinforcing HDPE with 30, 35, 40 45% DPNp two different sizes. particle sizes 600 μm 710 led classifying X-composite Y-composite respectively. static dynamic mechanical properties determined compared those pure HDPE. Results showed that can be formed into light attractive components. Loading HPDE significantly improve tensile strength, hardness, stiffness resistance impact failure 50%, 200%, 800% 1500% had better properties. ability maintain load bearing capacity under conditions was superior HDPE.

Mechanical Properties of the Palm Fibers Reinforced HDPE Composites

Natural fibers are used in polymer composites to improve mechanical properties to replace inorganic reinforcing agents produced by non-renewable resources. The present study investigates the tensile and flexural behaviors of palm fibers-high density polyethylene (HDPE) composite as a function of volume fraction. The surface of the fibers was treated by mercerization treatments to improve the we...

Potential Superoxide Anion Radical Scavenging Activity of Doum Palm (Hyphaene thebaica L.) Leaves Extract

The antioxidant activity of the aqueous ethanolic extract of Doum leaves, Hyphaene thebaica L. (Palmae), was studied. Data obtained showed that the extract scavenged superoxide anion radicals (IC50=1602 μg/ml) in a dose dependant manner using xanthine/hypoxanthine oxidase assay. Four major flvonoidal compounds were identified by LC/SEI as; Quercetin glucoside, Kaempferol rhamnoglucoside, Dimeth...

Thermal Degradation of HDPE Short Fibers Reinforced Epoxy Composites

Thermogravimetric analysis was carried out to investigate the thermal degradation of High Density Poly Ethylene (HDPE) short fibers reinforced epoxy composites. Three composites with 5, 10 and 15 % by weight of HDPE short fiber composition were prepared using epoxy as matrix material. The HDPE short fiber used as reinforcing material into the resin helps in retarding the thermal degradation of ...
